Our Aim

I'm Ruby, a mental health activist.

The aim of this website is to inform young people about mental health, which I think is not talked about enough. Teenagers are undereducated about such an important subject that affects 1 out of 8 children in America. On this website you can find statistics, stories, how to deal with anxiety, how to help someone out that has a mental illness, and basic information about mental illnesses and how they impact daily life. I hope that in looking through this website you learnt more about mental health and help the movement to lower the stigma around the delicate topic. Join the movement with #HelloYellow

Feel free to reach out to your close ones and to get help as only 36.9 facing this issue receive help or treatment.

If you are having an anxiety attack, here are some simple steps to calm yourself down and help soothe your mind:

  1. Stop and Breathe. Take a few deep breaths and think about what’s making you nervous.

  2. Figure out what’s bothering you. Put everything aside and think about what could make you nervous.

  3. Dump it or deal with it, when you have identified the problem you can take action to stop it and prevent it from starting again. Do something so that you feel like you have more control over what your dealing with.

  4. Focus on something less anxiety-provoking. Focus on something else, go out, do some work, or get yourself into an enjoyable activity.

  5. Don’t be scared to reach out to family and friends.

What is mental health?

“Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.”   - mental health.gov
